2. overview of available online monitoring systems was prepared
3. matching techniques with threats, five systems were shortlisted for testing with live agents

Only rapid monitoring systems for chemical agents available

An ideal EWS for chemical agents will:

• react to most types of threat agents
• at concentrations below lethal dose
• provide distinct signal to each
• not respond to harmless substances
• respond in time for countermeasures to be taken
