'Best Places To Work'
In 2008, 2009 and 2010 Affordable Solar received a Best Places to Work award. Employees were surveyed by Quantum Market Research Inc., a national polling and marketing company, to measure 38 attributes known to drive employee engagement. Questions were in 10 categories: team effectiveness, retention risk, alignment with goals, trust with co-workers, individual contribution, manager effectiveness, trust in senior leaders, feeling valued, work engagement and people practices. Based on their responses, companies were given a numerical score indicating employee satisfaction.

About Us

Why should you choose Affordable Solar?
Knowledge is power.
Fourteen years ago, David Hughes, President and CEO of Affordable Solar sold 150 solar panels from his Airstream parked in the backyard of his home. His main customers, known as “back-to-the-landers,” were delightful, go-it-alone-survivalists interested in energy independence. Today, Affordable Solar sells roughly 100,000 solar panels per year and employs 60 people.

Little has changed. Solar power is still about energy independence. Whether a PV system powers a remote farm, a grid-tied house in suburbia, or a business interested in a long term hedge against rising utility costs, our network of installers buy the best quality, reliable PV components from Affordable Solar because we’re all interested in the same thing: self-sufficiency, financial security, and the freedom to generate power from the sun.

Nationwide, installations are booming, jobs are being created, and solar has proven itself as a reliable energy source. In the last three years, prices for PV dropped 75%, while 2011 US installations (1.8 MW) grew 109% over 2010. A recent white paper (May 2012) finds that “in Australia, Denmark, Germany, Hawaii, Italy and Spain the cost of PV generation is currently less expensive than residential electricity rates. Using 2015 PV cost predictions; this will also be the case for Brazil, California, France, Japan and Turkey, even without an increase in electricity rates.”

The photovoltaic industry is just getting started. At Affordable Solar, we’re dedicated to providing installers across the US with best prices and availability for industry favorites. Our customer service includes technical support, lead generation, financing, and customized marketing materials. Affordable Solar is as committed as ever to energy independence and growing the solar industry in the US. That’s why our preferred installers' success is our success.
