The AJK timeline
1962: AJK NV (ATELIER JANSSEN KAULILLE) is a medium-sized Belgian company located in the north-east of Belgium. AJK was founded in 1962 by Jacques Janssen, who established himself as an independent contractor in Achel, specialising in the manufacture and repair of agricultural equipment. With the advent of heating oil for home heating at the beginning of the 1960s, AJK began making heating oil storage tanks.
1963: AJK constructs its first work area in Achel. Demand for storage tanks is enormous. The result: an acute lack of space in the production area. To provide the needed substantial increase in production capacity, AJK must relocate.
1968: AJK constructs a larger workshop in Sint-Huibrechts-Lille. The company moves in 1968. An expanded product range was also needed to make AJK stronger. The first new products were the waste containers that were designed and built at the beginning of the 1970s. To meet the growing demand for AJK products, production capacity quickly increased.
1972: Additional production space is again needed. AJK purchases an 8.5 ha site in the industrial zone at Kaulille (Bocholt). The move takes place in 1972. Thanks to the production of waste containers, AJK becomes a household word in the waste and transport sectors. The product range is quickly expanded to include tippers, waste compactors, tipper trailers, trailers, lift-hook systems and skip-loader systems.
To strengthen its position on the European market, sales organisations are set up in Germany, the Netherlands and France. Sales are handled in diverse other countries via partnerships with local dealers. This gives AJK a market presence throughout Western Europe. Approximately 75% of its sales are export related.
1988: AJK NV has its own sales network in Belgium. In the Netherlands, we work with AJK Nederland B.V. In France, with AJK France S.A.S.U. And in Germany with AJK Entsorgungs-Systeme GmbH.
