History

Begg, Cousland was founded in 1854 and a century later the name was famous world-wide for woven wire mesh screens and other wire products.

For the last 20 years Begg, Cousland has specialised in the design & manufacture of Mist Eliminators, a broad range of wire & fibre form products used for industrial air pollution control and in-process filtration.

It is still a privately owned Scottish company, with 5th generation involvement of the 2 founding families. The business culture remains focused on personal attention and oriented to customer service.

Expertise

Begg, Cousland has an unrivalled length of experience in the manufacture of both knitted wire, mesh pad type demisters and fibre bed type candle filters.

This in-depth expertise is available to solve wet gas cleaning problems in a huge variety of industrial applications, not just by tailoring mist eliminators to suit the problem, but in many cases by designing and supplying the complete filtration system as a turnkey package.

In recent years we are proud to have developed innovative designs and equipment solutions for gas scrubbing and odour control problems.

Industrial market applications include Chemicals production ( e.g. Fertilisers, Process Chemicals, Petrochemicals ), Non-Ferrous Metals smelting off-gas treatment, Pharmaceuticals production, Electronics industry, Oil and Gas production and Pulp and Paper industry. Approach

The company's Technical Sales Team use their specialist know-how and technology to select or design the optimum filter or systems for each individual application.

Applications may seem similar but have subtle differences and our products give a true flexibility of choice. Optimised choice of filtration can give energy or efficiency or space-saving benefits, or any combination.

In a BECOFIL candle filter application for sub-micron mist removal, pressure loss = energy cost, but reducing energy cost can mean increasing capital cost. Begg, Cousland have a large selection of fibres to find the best balance for each client.

In a BECOFLEX system for solids and/or gas/odours removals, the concept of a rotating, self-cleaning brush is simple, but it is the fact that it is compact, dynamic, low liquor using and has zero pressure loss, that make it so special. Here is an answer to all those problem scrubber applications where pressure loss or solids blockage are a problem.
