Boreal Renewable Energy Development began in 2003 to provide comprehensive project management for renewable energy projects. By specializing in business, municipal, and institutional sites with the capacity for large on-site distributed generation (0.5 to 10 MW), our projects deliver the maximum possible financial and environmental benefits.
For clients with medium to large electric loads, Boreal creates an alternative renewable supply to augment – or replace – current retail electricity consumption, helping avoid high and volatile costs. On-site renewable energy projects can replace as much as half or more of the electricity purchased from a local utility.
In addition, we provide project management and consulting services on selected research and analysis topics.
The time is right for renewable energy for a variety of reasons: improved technology, lower costs per kW installed, high electricity rates, renewable energy inducements via tax incentives, grants programs, climate change mitigation policy and renewable energy certificate programs.
Which of these are motivating you?
When you are considering renewable energy for your facilities, Boreal Renewable Energy Development helps at every step along the way. From initial evaluation through economic and regulatory analysis, Boreal’s experts can customize solutions that provide reliable energy at a consistent, long-term price.

We’ve outfitted industrial manufacturing plants, rooftops of historic buildings and a range of other sites with wind power, photovoltaic panels and solar thermal hot water or air heating. Helping clients obtain grants to support studies or construction is another Boreal advantage.
Since 2003, Boreal has worked with dozens of wind turbines, photovoltaic arrays and other renewable energy projects; more than virtually any of our nearby competitors. Benefit from this diverse experience and find the right balance of economic and environmental gains for your organization.
Boreal is an ideal choice for clients who want to:
Wind, solar and hydroelectric are the primary areas of Boreal experience. Through partners and associates we can pursue other types of renewable technologies such as biomass development.
A successful project begins with a range of analyses that span regulatory, economic, and engineering disciplines. Considerations include:
Boreal actively recruits clients by identifying sites with high renewable energy potential. An internal client champion is key to the success of any project. If you are that champion, we are ready to make renewable energy production at your site a reality
Boreal Renewable Energy Development accelerates the process of adding renewable wind, photovoltaic and solar thermal power to government facilities. Boreal holds a GSA contract under Schedule 03FAC - Facilities Maintenance and Management.
Boreal’s services include these Special Item Numbers:
Boreal also holds a Comprehensive Professional Energy Services (CPES) Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) with GSA for this same scope of services. As a BPA holder, Boreal, and its teaming partners can provide Federal agencies with support as they plan and implement Federal mandates such as Executive Order 13423 and 13514 or manage energy projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. By working with Boreal through the CPES BPA process, Federal agencies are able to obtain our services using an efficient and streamlined acquisition approach.
Backed by years of experience and international project knowledge Boreal provides expert advice for capitalizing on wind, solar and other renewable energy systems. We’ve helped organizations from small companies to multinational corporations and government agencies determine the right balance of economic and environmental gains. Solar Photovoltaic/Thermal Services
Because of flexible size and varied applications, solar PV and thermal heat or hot water projects can be approved quickly, with local permitting and limited community review. Solar arrays can produce electricity, heat water, and warm building interiors. Finding the right combination of resources for your facility requires choosing the best sites, selecting the right equipment and minimizing changes to existing building systems.
