DeconGel™ effectively decontaminates a broad range of horizontal and vertical surfaces including concrete, steel, painted or unpainted surfaces, glove boxes, hoods, casks, and many more… DeconGel™‘s extraordinary binding properties trap and encapsulate a wide spectrum of radioisotopes and chemicals in a simple, no-preparation process allowing easy and safe disposal without the use of water. When dry, the product locks the contaminants into a polymer matrix. The film containing the encapsulated contamination can then be peeled and disposed of according to appropriate local, state and federal regulations.

Applications: chemical spill cleanup, decontamination & decommision, decontamination of radioactive spills, decontamination solutions
About Us

About Us

CBI Polymers is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cellular Bioengineering, Inc., (www.cellularbioengineering.com) with a focus on developing easy-to-use and “green” peelable polymers for use in chemical, radioactive, and biological decontamination applications. CBI specializes in technology to clean nuclear power plants, decontamination and decommissioning sites, hazardous chemical spills, research labs, mold, and more.

Based in Honolulu, Hawaii, CBI recently has brought to market its patented DeconGel™ a decontamination polymeric hydrogel, part of a complete line of unique decontamination products.

Ever conscious of preserving the environment, the developers of DeconGel have produced an environmentally-friendly product – eliminating the threat of contaminated water run-off, often a problem with other decontamination products.

As the most effective product currently available for decontaminating radiological and chemical waste, DeconGel demonstrates superior usability through its ease of application, quick removal and easy disposal.

CBI has delivered its line of decontamination products for quick and effective decontamination projects to customers including the U.S Department of Energy, nuclear plants across the United States and Canada, national research laboratories such as Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, hospitals, environmental services companies and many more.

DeconGel … the leader in fast, effective, environmentally-friendly cleanup and decontamination.

The Product

The Product

How It Works
DeconGel is extremely versatile, for use on virtually any surface such as concrete, steel, painted or unpainted wood, aluminum, plexiglass, tile and grout, linoleum and many more.

Safe and extremely user-friendly, DeconGel requires no preparation prior to use, and can be either painted or sprayed onto a contaminated area, including cracks, pores and voids.

So Easy To Use
Because DeconGel is easily sprayed or brushed onto contaminated surfaces, horizontal or vertical uses are no longer a problem. And, unlike other decontamination products, DeconGel is so safe, with virtually no odor or fumes, the use of respirators while applying the product is not necessary.

Super Tensile Strength
DeconGel outstrips the competition due to its super tensile strength and toughness – the dried gel will not tear, so there is never a need for scraping product remnants from the surface.

Also, because DeconGel is a safe alternative to acids or soap and water, there is no need to worry contaminated run off.

Lower Labor Costs
DeconGel is so simple to apply, there is absolutely no user training required. Its quick and easy application results in a cost-effective labor solution – less manpower and less application time required – for even large-scale decontamination and clean-up projects. No scrubbing is required like soap and water.

Minimized Waste Generation
Rags and large volumes of water are not used to clean with DeconGel. The peelable polymer is considered low-level, non-mixed waste, so disposalis less costly than other alternatives. In addition, DeconGel offers miminal compaction compared to other solutions. Rinsing or dilution with water is not necessary with DeconGel, so contaminated liquid runoff is never an issue.

Reduces Potential Exposure to Contaminants
DeconGel redueces potential exposure to employees by encapsulating and providing a protective barrier (acting as dust suppressant).
