CPI was established by two college roommates in their dorm room in 1986 to provide carbon TOX columns to various laboratories. Shortly thereafter, CPI moved to a garage in order to increase manufacturing capacity. Always the entrepreneurs, the pair recognized other substantial opportunities to offer additional innovative products to the environmental testing laboratories. After years of continuous growth and market expansion, CPI was acquired by a group formed by Unique Investment Corporation, (“Unique”), a private equity firm located in Southern California.

CPI is now recognized as a manufacturing leader for quality, service, and innovation in key categories, including specialized products for spectroscopy, chromatography, mass spectrometry, and microbiology. CPI operates in the Analytical Chemistry, Microbiology, and Semiconductor testing markets, is a key manufacturer for many of the world’s largest OEM’s, and has a customer list that contains several Fortune 500 companies.
