The corporate roots of Eldan Recycling A/S dates back to March 1956 and where it was founded by Ejvind Laursen in Copenhagen. The company produced and sold various types of scrap shears. The company was at that time called E. Laursens Maskinfabrik A/S.
In 1971 the company moved to new and bigger production facilities in Faaborg on Funen.
In 1980 Steen Laursen took over the company from his father, Ejvind Laursen and the company changed its name to Eldan Recycling A/S. The name Eldan originate from E (Ejvind) L (Laursen) and DAN (Denmark). The activities on the export market were intensified and today Eldan Recycling A/S markets its product range worldwide. Contact with customers is maintained through an extensive agent network worldwide as well as subsidiaries and sales offices.
Over the years the company extended its product portfolio and today it includes cable strippers, alligator shears, ACSR shears, machines and complete plants for processing of cables, WEEE scrap, aluminium, tyre etc. Since the beginning the company has specialized in developing and manufacturing of machines and
plants for the recycling industry.
In 1999 Eldan Recycling A/S was sold to Carl Bennet AB with Steen Laursen remaining as Managing Director of the company. Since 2000 Eldan Recycling A/S has been a part of Lifco AB (a group within the Carl Bennet Group). Lifco AB had a turnover of 510 MIO EUR in 2007. Eldan Recycling A/S is part of the Environmental Group within Lifco AB and in 2007 the Environmental Group had a turn over of approx. 510 MIO EUR, and employed about 2.300 people. Its activities include subsidiaries in 20 countries with sales in more than 25 countries.
In 2001 Eldan Recycling A/S again moved to new and bigger facilities on Værkmestervej 4 in Faaborg.
In 2005 Toni Reftman was made Managing Director of Eldan Recycling A/S, preparing the company for Steen Laursen’s retirement.
Eldan Recycling A/S did during 2008 expand their production facilities considerably by adding two new workshops to the premises and today the premises of Eldan Recycling A/S is covering an area of 10.000 m2. This step was taken to meet the high demand for Eldan equipment and to shorten the delivery time. This also gives an excellent opportunity carry out trials with the specific material types.
Until 2009 Steen Laursen was involved in the company as a business development manager and consultant.

Own Electrical Control systems
Eldan has its own in-house electrical department, i.e. all electrical controls are designed and assembled here at our factory in Faaborg. This ensures the maximum efficiency by production with Eldan lines and machines.

Turn-key plants – easy to use
Eldan offer different turn-key plants to meet specific end-products. Using the modular approach, a large number of combinations can be supplied both with regard to processing volumes and the production of output sizes. The Eldan Plants are 'Multi-Size' Plants which means that it is merely a question of changing the screen combination in the machines, should you wish to produce a different output size.

Tyre Recycling ServiceEvery year over 3 million tonnes of used tyres are generated in Europe according to the ETRMA (European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturer Association). This amounts to approximately 300 million units – that is a lot of tyres! The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reports 290 million scrap tires were generated in 2003. This is approximately one tyre per person a year. Used tyres are a large problem which has to be dealt with! |
