STEAG Energy Services LLC has had a presence in the United States since 1992, and moved to the city of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, in 2007. There, STEAG transformed the vacant Anvil Knitting and Dye mill into a rapidly growing production facility serving power plants throughout the continent. STEAG provides cost-effective engineering and consulting solutions that enable some of the nation’s largest energy producers to meet stringent environmental regulations.
STEAG Energy Services LLC is part of the STEAG group, which offers integrated solutions in the fields of power and heat generation, as well as technical services. The group's total installed capacity is around 9,400 megawatts, and is based on both fossil and renewable sources of energy. From them, we draw on decades of engineering experience related to selective catalytic reduction (SCR) installations, flue-gas desulfurization (FGD) systems and ammonia injection technology.
STEAG is a leader in SCR management and catalyst regeneration. Our facility occupies over 360,000 square feet and contains a state-of-the-art bench scale reactor, which allows us to replicate the actual operating conditions of a full-scale SCR reactor. We also provide x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis and other analysis services on-site.
STEAG believes in corporate responsibility and community involvement. We are proud to give back to the city of Kings Mountain, Cleveland County and the greater Charlotte area. Because of our efforts, STEAG received the Mayor’s International Community Award in 2008, and was awarded 2011 Industry of the Year by the Cleveland County Chamber of Commerce.
We support international collaborative organizations like the Transatlantic Climate Bridge Initiative, bringing German and Americans together to address energy security. STEAG also sits on the board of directors for the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
STEAG Energy Services LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of STEAG Energy Services GmbH, which is in turn owned by STEAG GmbH. Our parent company is then owned 49% by Evonik Industries AG and 51% by Stadtwerke-Konsortium Rhein-Ruhr (an organization composed of municipal utilities).
STEAG Energy Services LLC is headquartered in Kings Mountain, NC, with additional offices and a lab in Carnegie, Pennsylvania.

Fuel Lean Gas ReburnFuel Lean Gas Reburn (FLGR) offers an inexpensive way of reducing NOx emissions by up to 30-40% and can be installed for less than $8/kW. It can also generate SO2 allowance credits in direct proportion to the amount of natural gas that displaces coal, partially offsetting the added costs of reburning. |
