Originally known as Guttridge Feed Services Ltd, we were founded in 1962 by the late Dr. David Guttridge to manufacture and operate mobile animal feed mills. The Company grew rapidly throughout the 1960s, but the introduction of milk quotas and agricultural subsidies in the early 1970s changed the market completely. As a result the feed milling side of the company was sold and we began to concentrate on the design and manufacture of bulk materials handling machinery.
The 1980s & 1990s saw a period of sustained growth as Guttridge became an established and respected supplier of bulk material handling machinery to the animal feeds, petfoods and cereals industries. The late 1980s also saw Guttridge develop a new specialist range of stainless steel machinery for handling foods, chemicals and pharmaceutical. More recently our machines have been further developed to operate in more arduous conditions, handling many different types of Chemicals and Minerals, including many abrasive and difficult bulk solids products.
Our superbly equipped workshops have earned Guttridge an enviable reputation for high quality CNC laser cutting, water jet cutting and general sheetmetal subcontract work, this now forms an important part of our business and trades as Guttridge Services.
In January 2000 Guttridge moved into a new purpose-built 4,000m2 factory and offices. The factory was designed and laid out to maximise production efficiency and now provides much additional space and flexibility. The new site, in a prestigious location on Spalding's Wardentree Lane Industrial Estate, allows ample room for future expansion.
The intellectual property of Carier Bulk Materials Handling Ltd was acquired in October 2004. This exciting development cemented our position in the UK as the leading manufacturer of bulk material handling machinery. The Guttridge 3D-design treatment has been applied to the best Carier products as we re-introduce them to the marketplace. Also, spares for all Carier machines are available, helped by our comprehensive archive of all Carier machines supplied since before the 1980s.
Guttridge is growing rapidly and has ambitious plans to develop the range of products to include new designs, agency products and licensed manufacture – all aimed at providing the most comprehensive range of powder handling products and services to the UK and export markets.
