About Us

International Asbestos Testing Laboratories (iATL) proudly celebrates twenty five years of quality laboratory service. iATL is an independent environmental testing laboratory that prides itself on quality and experience. iATL serves the environmental, health & safety, industrial hygiene, and consumer product testing markets. Our experienced staff is dedicated to providing quality analysis for every sample, ultimately contributing to a successful 25 years. We are dedicated to meet and exceed customer expectations for many more years to come….one
sample at a time.

Since 1986, iATL has offered a full range of asbestos and lead testing services for the environmental industry, and shortly thereafter added mold and other industrial hygiene and environmental laboratory services. We are always growing to meet the needs of our clients. Since 2008 we have added two divisions - now accredited and offering testing services for nanoparticles and consumer products.

iATL is Quality

At iATL, quality has been our foundation for success. Our technicians treat each sample with the diligence and individual attention that testing demands. Our customer service and administrative staff are always available to answer your phone calls and address questions. If you need further clarification on technical issues, our laboratory director is readily available to address those concerns. Clients depend heavily on laboratory results as soon as possible, so we offer twenty-four hour laboratory services. Our quality assurance program goes above the minimum requirements assuring that every sample analyzed is validated and approved.

iATL is Experience

The quality of analysis is dependent upon the aptitude of personnel. iATL's laboratory staff consists of highly trained and certified professionals who have been in the industry for many years. Our staff regularly attends technical seminars, professional conferences, and education courses to ensure they have the latest training to provide quality analysis to clients.

We invite you to tour our facilities to further understand the quality and experience we offer clients. Feel free to offer comments and inquire about other service offerings. We challenge you to find another more independent and qualified laboratory.

iATL is Our Staff

iATL really is many things, but our greatest strength is certainly an extension of the quality of our staff.  Our laboratory staff all have extensive academic and professional training in their respective disciplines.  But, it’s more than just the qualifications of the analytical staff.  The value of Our Staff includes the customer service-centric Administrative Group, Reports Group, designated and dedicated Customer Service Specialists, the Quality Assurance Department that includes the Data Validation and Report Review staff, and the rest of our support staff… organizationally imbued with a commitment to you, our customers.

Qualifications

iATL is internationally recognized for numerous analytical projects. We provide clients with quality analysis, superior customer service, technical guidance, and an overall understanding of the data provided to them. Part of our qualifications include our accreditations through numerous regulatory authorities.

MDLs / LOQs

Limits of Quantitation (LOQ) vary from Method Detection Limits (MDLs), Limits of Detection (LODs), and Reporting Limits (RLs) according to definitions through the American Industrial Hygiene Association and recent ISO17025 guidelines. iATL performs annual MDL studies for most of its analytes.

QA/QC

iATL prides itself on our Quality Assurance Program. We maintain all the elements of the ISO/IEC 17025 guidelines as required by NVLAP, AIHA, NYSDOH, and many other accrediting bodies. This work takes effort from every staff member and is the primary focus of designated QA personnel.

iATL’s key to success is timeliness of the quality control process and the follow-up of any corrective action to non-conformities. If QA re-analysis is not done daily, then catching mistakes and errors that are bound to occur may affect a client’s project. At iATL we are always in a 24-48 hour loop of sample analysis, QA data review, and any QC resolutions before completely validating data in order to ensure the most accurate and timely results. This requires a team of trained QA review staff.

Through our proficient quality assurance program, iATL has the means of quickly amending reports if an analytical discrepancy is found. Analysts routinely note subtleties in their findings and communicate frequently with clients. The client never sees all of this behind the scenes attention to detail that goes into the QA process, but thoroughness is essential if you want legally defensible laboratory data.

We also have a statement of qualifications (SOQ) that can be provided with more in depth technical information. This document lists our:

Nanotechnology

Recent CDC and NIOSH data concerning nanoparticles are sounding the alarm for environmental health and safety professionals worldwide—that there is strong evidence suggesting potential health concerns of this technology. Evidence that points to the exposure of the chemical and physical properties of these particlesand their little understood interaction with human biology.

FEATURED SERVICES

Water and Other Aqueous Samples

The analysis of Water and Other Aqueous samples for asbestos content continues to mature. This growth is evidenced by recent method developments by EPA. Investigations of asbestos in drinking water are conducted when water supply pipes are disturbed or replaced. Municipal utilities serving certain populations are required to test this analyte. Often effluent or waste streams are tested to survey industrial contamination.

Other Metals

iATL also offers testing of Other Metals in air, usually associated with occupational exposures. These include Zinc, Cadmium, and Chromium. AAS lab techniques and NIOSH field protocols are employed. Accreditation is provided through AIHA.
