High Performance Work Teams Fuel Empowerment
Empowered Parker employees work to execute the Win Strategy by taking initiative and accepting accountability for results and support a culture of respect for the contribution of every person. At the Parflex Division, employees are joining together in formalized high performance work teams to improve operations in both manufacturing and office processes.
Many of the division’s 480 employees have received training and actively participate in teams that are focused on specific goals. The division supports nearly 15 formal teams at 2 locations in the United States. Not only have these teams improved operational and financial metrics, but they have had a positive effect on morale. Ideas are now generated and shared by employees at every level and there is a greater sense of ownership and accountability. Employees have also gained a greater sense of pride in their team’s accomplishments and a renewed interest in Kaizen event s and other improvement initiatives.
The Parker Hannifin Foundation
Incorporated on January 29, 1953, the focus of the Parker Hannifin Foundation is to support educational institutions, health care organizations, and various local charities. Millions of dollars are donated by the Foundation each year to organizations that are making a difference in the lives of Parker employees and the communities we call home.
Every Parker location is focused on local community support and fundraising activities. In addition to donations, many employees also volunteer their time; dedicating countless hours in support of organizations that appeal to a personal connection. Company sponsored fundraising drives include everything from holiday gifts, coats and backpack collections; to funds for education, the arts, medical research, community support organizations, and much more.
The Parker Hannifin Foundation extends the goodwill of Parker’s employees often matching gifts and donations that benefit the communities we call home. Some of the organizations that were approved in 2011 were: American Heart Association, Great Lakes Science Center, Newspapers in Education, Habitat for Humanity, Cleveland Sustainability Network, LEAF, Junior Achievement, Exeter Math Institute, Holden Arboretum, and Cleveland Museum of Art.

Parker’s RunWise Hits the Streets of Miami
On September 15, 2010 in Miami, Florida, Parker delivered the first commercial orders of its RunWise Advanced Series Hybrid Drive technology to several municipalities there who are the first to purchase refuse vehicles using the technology.
