Company History

RainWise Inc. is a privately owned company incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1974. The name was derived from the original product, a tipping bucket remote reading rain gauge.

In 1981 the company moved to Bar Harbor, Maine and the development of a new line of electronic consumer weather instrumentation began with the WS-1000, the first digital 'consumer' weather station.

In 1985 the company built a new manufacturing/showroom facility in downtown Bar Harbor. The success of the consumer based instrument line led to the development of an Industrial product line in 1991. The Industrial equipment quickly became recognized for its customizable configuration, NIST traceability and an unheard of at the time 5 year warranty.

RainWise has continued to supply innovative consumer products and turn-key Industrial systems. The General Service Administration awarded RainWise with a GSA contract in 1991. Under this contract the company's products are available to over 700 Government agencies.
