American Society of Agronomy - Crop Science Society of America - Soil Science Society of America

It’s an exciting time to be a “society” publisher. The American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America are taking advantage of the latest opportunities in design, printing, and digital delivery technologies to create quality publications and to expand our offerings. While big publishers just get bigger, our goal is to adapt to the changing needs of our members and readers while staying true to our mission of advancing the knowledge of plants, soils, water, and the environment.

We are eager to explore new areas of publishing with you. A new Book and Multimedia Publishing Committee welcomes your proposals for textbooks, digitial content, interdisciplinary cooperative projects....you name it.

Look for changes in our journals too. Redesigns will make the journals more attractive and reader-friendly. New features will highlight the importance of our science. Soil Science Society of America Journal will unveil its new look in 2007. CSA News and Soil Survey Horizons are already enjoying positive feedback on their new designs and content.

CSSA will launch The Plant Genome, a new supplement of its flagship journal, Crop Science. The Plant Genome will publish original research that shows clear potential for translating genomic technology into agronomic advancement. The editorial board, led by Dr. Randy Shoemaker, USDA-ARS Research Geneticist, Iowa State University, will give preference to novel reports that use innovative genomic applications that advance our understanding of plant biology and have demonstrative application to crop improvement.

ASA CSSA SSSA Custom Content is a new feature that allows customers to choose from all our journal articles and create their own custom books for coursepacks, colleagues, symposia, or subject collections.

A common thread across the missions of ASA, CSSA, and SSSA is the dissemination of scientific knowledge to advance the professions and encourage the sustainable use of our natural resources. We are excited that our publications play a major role in this mission, and invite you to share it with us — as an author, editor, reader, customer, and subscriber.
