About Us

SSI designs and manufactures low-speed, high-torque industrial shredders and size reduction systems for a variety of solid waste recycling and scrap shredding applications

Since 1980, SSI has engineered and manufactured industrial shredding systems, waste reducers and transfer station compactors. With installations in 51 countries, SSI's single-rotor, two-shaft and four-shaft shredders have become proven solutions for many size and volume reduction applications worldwide. From solid & hazardous waste to tires, from scrap metals to plastics or from demolition debris to electronic scrap, SSI has built a shredder or system to handle the job.

For over 30 years, SSI's innovation, engineering and patented technologies have created an evolution of the most versatile shredders on the market today. SSI Shredding Systems continues to extend the limits of size reduction by asking one recurring question: What Needs Shredding?

The idea of mobile shredders was new in 1980; the world was seeing a rapidly growing market for on-site size reduction. SSI was started to meet this demand as a contract shredding company. Flexibility was key in our early development. Our customers frequently came to us with unique problems, which compelled us to concentrate on engineering new solutions rather than off-the-shelf technology. The old idea that there was one solution for all, just wouldn't work in this market. Our customers needed a choice of options.

Now a quarter century later, our innovation, improvement, and engineering to application have created an evolution of the most versatile shredders in the market today.

We have installed SSI shredders in 51 countries located on all 7 continents providing solutions to the world. Examples: Four of SSI’s M160's, one of the world's most powerful shredders, are operating in the world's largest waste incineration facility located in Singapore. We've developed alternative fuel processing systems for global cement companies and we've installed our shredders to process the organic hazardous waste for the entire country of Norway.

We Work With You

When you contact SSI the first question we'll ask is not what shredder you want to buy, but what you need to shred. Besides being applications specialists we're also practical business people; we'll want to know how your shredder will fit into your overall operation so we can put together the best, most cost-effective configuration for you.

We want you to feel that you are heard right and that your needs are understood. Above all we want you to feel you have a shredding system that is designed, scaled, powered, installed, and priced in a way that makes the most sense for your needs.

Construction & demolition (C&D) debris shredding

Primary Reducers Designed Specifically for the C&D Industry. PRI-MAX shreds, tears, and breaks bulky debris into manageable pieces that are easy to transport and economical to dispose of.

Cutter Rebuilds Services

As a shredder is used it gradually wears down cutters and, over time, its shearing efficiency diminishes. The obvious solution is to periodically replace the cutters with new ones. SSI offers a cost effective alternative: rebuilt cutters. Experience has shown that rebuilt cutters actually last longer than the original because of the additional hardness.

Customer Service

SSI supports every shredder it sells for life. Since each machine has been configured to suit the needs of its owner, each one is unique. Like a personal medical history, detailed records are kept on every shredder we build.
