The company can trace its origins back to 1872, when a group of entrepreneurs founded the Dampfkessel-Überwachungs-Vereine (DÜV) or Steam Boiler Inspectorate as their own independent organisation dedicated to ensuring technical safety. TÜV Rheinland Group currently provides around 2.500 services. The company pools its activities into 36 Business Fields, which are assigned to six Business Streams: Industrial Services, Mobility, Products, Life Care, Education and Consulting, Systems.
