Excellence in life

Something cool is going on at Tuthill. Our vision is to have a seismic impact on our world and we are doing just that with various activities. In April we chose to Adopt-A-Stream locally and commit to cleaning it for the next year. A team of employees got together for the first clean-up and collected over 8 bags of trash along with many large pieces. We plan to get together again soon to continue what we started and help keep the stream clean.

Our History

In 1996 Tuthill Corporation purchased the Kinney Vacuum Company and in 1999 Atlantic Fluidics. In 2002, these operations were combined with Tuthill Pneumatics Group, manufacturer of the world-renowned M-D Pneumatics™ rotary blowers and vacuum boosters, to form Tuthill Vacuum & Blower Systems (TVBS), the sole manufacturer of Kinney® and Atlantic Fluidics® brands of vacuum pumps. M-D Pneumatics™ became part of the Tuthill family in 1988.

Since the creation of TVBS, it has expanded with two complete service and repair facilities in Canton (Boston), Massachusetts, El Monte (Los Angeles), California, and fully equipped manufacturing facilities in Springfield, Missouri and Bueños Aires, Argentina.

Who We Are

Image

Tuthill Corporation is a privately held global manufacturer of industrial goods specializing in rotating equipment such as pumps & meters.

From heavy oils to motor fuels, from tomato paste to process gasses, from standard pressures to deep vacuums, we move it and measure it with reliability that's measured in decades. And that's only part of our story. The rest of our story lives within our people. Our Conscious Company culture attracts and supports the kind of people who understand what our customers want and what they need - the kind of people who listen well and gain trust by following through on each and every commitment they make.

Customers who demand excellence are a gift for us, for it is through their reminders and their encouragement that we will one day grow to be counted among the world's Top 1% industrial companies. We have much work to do - and we'll accept nothing less.

History

Our journey began in 1892 when James B. Tuthill started a business to manufacture and sell common brick to Chicago construction companies who were fueling the city's rapid expansion.

While searching for an efficient way to lift clay from the bottom of the quarry and deliver it to the kilns where it would become brick, Tuthill came upon its first successful innovation in the pump industry. The product was a small internal gear pump that injected oil directly into the burner of a truck-mounted boiler. This pump eventually became the foundation of Tuthill Pump Company, a separate entity created in 1927.

In 1961 Tuthill purchased Ossian Engineering Company. Today, this business is known as Tuthill Transfer Systems. In 1977 Tuthill Pump Company reorganized to reflect its more diverse business and became Tuthill Corporation. Having entered the pneumatic blower business in 1988 with the acquisition of M-D Pneumatics, Tuthill Vacuum & Blower Systems was formed in 1996 by combining M-D with the newly acquired Kinney Vacuum Company.

Our parallel journeys into Lean Manufacturing and Conscious Company began in 1999 and 2004, respectively. In 2010 we narrowed our strategic focus to the rotating equipment arena and especially to products such as pumps, blowers, vacuum pumps and systems, and meters. And in 2011, we welcomed Tom Carmazzi as our new C.E.O.
