Why attend Saudi Safety and Security 2012?

Why attend Saudi Safety and Security 2012?

Given the recent local, regional and large-scale environmental, geopolitical and economical changes we have seen in the past year alone, it is clear that there is a real and increasing need to increase the organisation and integration of all available company resources in case of accident, attack, crisis or emergency. Coordination and synergy of different institutions, resources and personnel will be essential in order to deliver new methodologies that can meet emerging threats and challenges in the safety and security space. Saudi Safety and Security 2012 is the place to build such networks with other organisations and institutes and to discover how to devise the most effective strategies for your organisation.

Are your HSE and security strategies up-to-date?

Security

Security

The security market in Saudi Arabia continues to develop rapidly. Threats from both internal and external sources pose major challenges to existing and upcoming infrastructure. Sectors that are vital to the economy all require constant surveillance and security systems to allow continued and undisturbed output. The government’s privatisation plans have triggered considerable security upgrades within the electricity, telecommunications, air-travel, water, oil and gas, railways and petrochemical sectors.

Image

  • Saudi Arabia is forecasted to procure $14 billion worth of security systems and services over the next 6 years (2009 – 2014)
  • The Saudi Security market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.8% in the coming years.
  • In the transport sector alone security expenditure is forecast to reach $76.2 million by 2016

Fire

Fire

Growing industrialisation and urbanisation in Saudi Arabia has created a host of new opportunities and challenges, one being fire protection. Demand for fire protection products and services have increased in most countries of the world, especially in areas showing the most economic growth.

The ongoing construction boom with several prestigious construction projects are in progress, (economic cities, new universities, schools/colleges, and hospitals) offers many opportunities for increased expenditure on fire alarm systems and services.

More stringent enforcement of building construction codes in recent years, coupled with an increasing demand from end users, has created a surge in demand for fire alarm systems, sprinklers, fire detection and suppression systems.

Image

  • The worldwide market for active fire protection is currently around $5 billion annually. This is set to grow to $6.1 billion by the end of 2011, with much of the growth taking place in the Middle East.
  • The Middle East fire detection and suppression market earned revenues of $635 million in 2008, and is estimated to reach $1.2 billion by 2013.
  • Jeddah Chamber of Commerce has estimated the Kingdom requires 1 million new homes in the next five years, providing a wealth of opportunities for fire alarm systems

Safety

Safety

Health and safety at work, along with risk assessment and training are necessary within all workplaces and across all industries. Considering the potentially lethal implications though, none more so than within construction and heavy industry.

Saudi Arabia comprises the largest construction market in the whole of the Middle East, with population growth and oil revenue being the main factors stimulating both public and private sector investment. Measured by international standards, safety levels are mediocre, but improving.

As the construction industry has grown, an increased awareness of safety regulations combined with the stricter enforcement of codes and practices being implemented in all aspects (from residential apartment blocks to the management of large infrastructural projects) has meant that demand for safety equipment, regulations and training services has soared in recent years.

Image

  • Upcoming projects that will require generous safety expenditure include;
  • Government investment of $700 million to develop the country’s electricity network and water supplies
  • Current infrastructure and public sector building programmes are valued at $35 billion. Including 600 new factories, schools and doubling desalination capacity.
  • The total value of construction contracts awarded is set to hit $63 billion by 2012.
