In 2011 Metso Recycling took over the Swiss company Holzmag strengthening Metso’s comprehensive portfolio in the field of waste and metal recycling. The technology was transferred to Metso’s M&J product line and now the first product of that bundled expertise - the M&J EtaFineShred 6500 - is being launched at the IFAT exhibition in Munich from 7-11 May.
The newly acquired technologies include patents for multi-edge rotors, knives and knife fittings. These technologies have been incorporated in the brand new product – the powerful 2-rotor M&J EtaFineShred 6500. Along with the well-known M&J EtaPreShredders (1000, 2000, 4000 and 6000) this setup provides in-house and household waste recyclers with a unique solution.
“Through integration of the superior Holzmag technology in our competence center for waste recycling at M&J we have improved the machine significantly. The focus was placed on serviceability and easy access to the machine when re-designing the basic principle. The result is a unique housing which can be split for maintenance or service purposes. Full access to the main knives is ensured and downtime is reduced to an absolute minimum. We are very proud of the result and I think the market will agree that this machine combines the best from all worlds”, says Kjeld Nielsen, President at Metso Recycling.
Due to the patented shaft and cutting technology from Holzmag and the variable screen openings the M&J EtaFineShred series is able to deliver a homogenous output quality starting at 10 mm. At the same time no heat generation will occur and dust emissions are kept to an absolute minimum. These are still the core features of the machine that enable recycling companies a much higher efficiency in their production setup.
“One more important aspect of the new fine shredder is the service setup, which is now fully integrated in Metso Recycling’s global service network. All components, wear and spare parts are supplied from our warehouse, and our service technicians have undergone intensive training to support the EtaFineShred series all over the world”, adds VP Sales & Marketing, Uffe Hansen.
Strong interest in the market for the new fine shredder as well as in a complete solution in combination with the M&J pre-shredder program has led Metso to establish a demo center in Denmark at the M&J site in Horsens. “At the demo center our customers can take a closer look at the machine and the technology we provide. Furthermore we have samples of hundreds of different materials processed, which underline the capabilities of the M&J EtaFineShred series”, concludes Kjeld Nielsen.
