Company Also Named 2012 Utility Technology Challenge Winner and One of America's Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs by Bloomberg BusinessWeek

BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/19/12 -- Retroficiency, provider of the on-demand Building Efficiency Intelligence (BEI) platform, today announced it won Mass Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC) Innovative Energy Technology of the Year Award. Retroficiency was awarded for its unique platform -- that combines its energy interval analytics solution, Virtual Energy Assessment, and building asset solution, Automated Energy Audit -- to enable energy service providers, utilities and building owners to cost-effectively evaluate energy efficiency opportunities in minutes.

The MassTLC award comes on the heels of Retroficiency being named one of three Utility Technology Challenge winners to share $100,000 in pilot-demonstration funds for the testing of their solutions with a utility. Retroficiency was selected from an initial pool of 150 applicants that was paired down to 15 finalists that presented to a panel of utility industry judges for the opportunity to win the competition.

Also, Bloomberg BusinessWeek editors named Retroficiency as one of America's Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs, with readers subsequently voting the company as one of their five most favorite selections.

'The MassTLC award is a big honor and speaks to the importance of the problem Retroficiency addresses. Buildings account for more than 40 percent of U.S. energy consumption, but many efficiency opportunities are not being pursued because of the time consuming and expensive process of conducting manual energy audits,' said Bennett Fisher, CEO, Retroficiency. 'We created a Web based software platform which helps dramatically increase the speed and effectiveness of evaluating buildings, from initial qualification to detailed on-site energy audits. Now, energy service providers and utilities can systematically evaluate thousands of commercial building energy efficiency measures in minutes -- regardless of what information is available.'

More than 600 technology executives, entrepreneurs, investors and students packed Boston's Renaissance Hotel's ballroom Thursday, September 13, 2012 to celebrate the presentation of the 2012 MassTLC Leadership Awards. A committee of more than 40 industry executives, thought leaders and media were involved with the selection process for the nominees and determined the winners.
