US EPA proposes to tighten ground-level ozone standards
On Jan. 7, 2010, USEPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson announced the agency will propose to lower the ambient air quality standard for ozone to its most stringent level ever. Smog, measured as ground-level ozone, is composed of many compounds formed by chemical reactions involving VOCs and nitrogen-containing compounds catalyzed by sunlight.
