US energy dept awards US$126m for carbon sequestration projects
The US Department of Energy (DOE) has announced awards of more than US$126.6 million to the West Coast Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership (WESTCARB) and the Midwest Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership (MRCSP) for the Department’s fifth and sixth large-scale carbon sequestration projects. Watchdog calls for new UN agency to oversee transport emissions
A newly formed watchdog of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is proposing that the UN establish a new authority to regulate emissions from high-carbon international activities such as aviation and shipping.
