White House talks up climate bill chances
The White House has signalled that it has not yet given up hope of passing a climate bill before the Copenhagen Summit in December, as it emerged that a key Republican Senator could be willing to back the controversial legislation. Speaking at an event in London, energy secretary Steven Chu said he remained optimistic that a climate bill setting binding emission targets could be passed within the next two months. `Whether there will be a bill on the President`s desk and he will sign it...I am hopeful it will be,` Chu said. `It will be tight (but) there is a good shot. ` His comments ... |

London meeting pushes CCS up Copenhagen agenda
International talks closed in London this week with substantial agreement on the development and deployment of breakthrough Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology.
