European investors call for carbon trading revamp
As fresh details emerge confirming that US legislators plan to water down proposed cap-and-trade legislation, a group of European investors have called on world leaders to move in the opposite direction and undertake urgent reforms designed to tighten up emerging carbon markets.

Oil sands emit up to 15 per cent more carbon than crude, says new study
Researchers have warned that while exploiting Canada`s oil sand reserves could offer advantages in terms of energy security compared to the Middle East, the green house gas emissions from extracting the oil are 15 per cent higher than traditional crude oil production.
In a study released this week, business information specialist IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates (IHS CERA) said that Canadian oil sands represent the world`s largest reserve of recoverable oil after Saudi Arabia.
