Iberdrola signs EUR 430m turbine contract with General Electric
Iberdrola Renewables has signed a contract with General Electric for the supply of turbines with a total capacity of 300 megawatts (MW). The total investment related to development of this wind capacity will total approximately EUR 430 million. Under the terms of the contract, Iberdrola Renewables will acquire 200 General Electric turbines of 1.5 MW capacity each, for delivery in 2010 to its wind farms in the United States. ABB wins US$170m contract for Baltic Sea power link
ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced it has won a contract worth US$170 million from Svenska Kraftnät and Fingrid Oyj, the transmission system operators in Sweden and Finland. ABB will supply two HVDC (high-voltage, direct current) converter stations for the Fenno-Skan 2 power link. The converter stations will be part of an 800-MW (megawatt) extension of the existing 550-MW Fenno-Skan 1 link, delivered by ABB in 1989.
