World energy outlook - 2008
The world’s craving for energy will grow 45 percent by 2030 with coal accounting for more than a third of the overall rise, according to the latest edition of the annual World Energy Outlook published by the International Energy Agency (IEA). But current trends in energy supply and consumption are patently unsustainable - environmentally, economically and socially - they can and must be altered, said Nobuo Tanaka Executive Director of the IEA.

Schwarzenegger takes action to increase renewable energy in CA
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has presented draft legislation to increase California’s renewable energy portfolio standard from 20 percent by 2010 to 33 percent by 2020. He also signed an Executive Order directing key state agencies to remove barriers to renewable development and focus resources on California’s renewable energy project approval process in a way that facilitates renewables and protects the state’s sensitive and wild places.
