Technip awarded the substructure for first offshore floating wind turbine
Technip has been awarded by StatoilHydro an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract for the Hywind project substructure wind turbine which will be located offshore Karmøy, Norway, at a water depth of 200-220 meters. It will be the world`s first full scale offshore floating wind turbine. This floating demonstration wind turbine will have a tower height of around 65 meters and a blade diameter of around 82 meters, i.e. a total unit height of around 106 meters above sea-level. DOE to invest up to US$2.3m to identify renewable energy zones
US Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary for Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability Kevin Kolevar has announced the Department’s plans to contribute up to US$2.3 million over three years, subject to annual appropriations, to identify areas in the Western United States with vast renewable energy resources, and expedite the development and delivery of those resources to meet regional energy needs.
