GAO designates toxic chemicals as new high-risk area, say Bergeson & Campbell
On January 22, 2008, the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) issued a report entitled High-Risk Series: An Update, which is intended “to bring focus to specific areas needing added attention.” The GAO began preparing the biennial reports on high-risk areas in 1990. The GAO identifies areas as high risk due to their greater vulnerabilities to fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement, or due to their need for broad-based transformation to address major economy, efficiency, or effectiveness challenges.
