Droughts and floods threaten China`s economic growth, forecaster warns
China faces an increase in weather disasters which will threaten crops and economic growth, the country`s most senior forecaster has warned. He Lifu, of the National Meteorological Centre, told the China Daily newspaper that events such as droughts, floods and storms had become more frequent and severe since the 1990s and the trend was likely to continue.  `Extreme weather will be more frequent in the future due to the instability of the atmosphere, and global warming might be the indirect cause,` the forecaster told the English-language paper. England`s buses to go green thanks to new GBP 30m fund
The fund is part of the Department for Transport’s wider strategy to encourage a radical shift to low carbon transport and improve air quality in our cities. Bus operators and councils will be able to bid for the money which they can then use towards the additional up front cost of buying low carbon buses.    As more low carbon buses are produced and sold, costs will reduce.  This will encourage bus technology and will stimulate the market for low carbon buses, an industry in which the UK is a world leader.   Transport Secretary Andrew Adonis said;  “CO2 emissions from buses ...
