China and FAO sign historic US$30m deal
The People’s Republic of China has agreed to make available to FAO a US$30 million trust fund to support developing countries in improving their agricultural productivity to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. The agreement signed this week in Beijing also marks China’s entry into FAO’s donor community. Under the agreement, China will provide experts to developing countries for technical assistance and training as well as agricultural inputs and small equipment. UK MPs call for every product to carry carbon labels
Everything companies buy and sell could soon carry green labels detailing their products` environmental impact, if proposals to be put forward this week by an influential committee of MPs are adopted.  The Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) of MPs will release a report calling on the government to deliver sector-based universal environmental labelling similar to emerging standards for food labels and a huge expansion of carbon labelling.
