Report: one in five US jobs to turn green
One in every five US jobs could be green by 2030, according to a major new report published last week by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) that estimates the emerging energy efficiency and renewable energy (EE&RE) industries could employ 37 million people over the next two decades.
The report, Tackling Climate Change, argues that even when the jobs lost from carbon intensive sectors such as coal and oil are taken into account, the development of a low-carbon economy will deliver a net boost in employment of about 4.5 million jobs.

US social enterprise unveils US$4bn green home plan
A US-based affordable housing developer plans to raise $4bn over the next five years to build and retrofit 750,000 residential, community and commercial buildings nationwide in a bid to make them more energy-efficient.
The not-for-profit Enterprise Community Partners was founded by pioneering urban developer James Rouse, and has seen its profile boosted in recent years after Rouse`s grandson, the actor Edward Norton, took a place on the organisation`s board.
