New study finds worldwide flowmeter market worth US$4.5bn
A new research study finds strong growth in the worldwide flowmeter market. The new study from Flow Research, called Volume X: The World Market for Flowmeters, 2nd Edition, finds that the worldwide flowmeter market totaled US$4.5 billion in 2007. The study includes all 14 types of commercial and industrial flowmeters used in the process industries. In addition to the familiar flowmeter types, such as ultrasonic and Coriolis, the study includes the emerging flow technologies of sonar and optical. The new-technology flowmeter markets, including ultrasonic and Coriolis, are showing the fastest growth, ...
EUR 100m EIB loan support to Kemira environmental research
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is granting a loan up to EUR 100m to support the research, development and innovation activities of the Kemira Group (Kemira) in Finland. The R&D activities of  Kemira aim to design more effective and efficient chemicals, often with clear environmental benefits. The finance documentation was signed this week in Helsinki by EIB Vice-President, Eva SREJBER, Kemira Oyj CEO, Harri KERMINEN and Kemira International Finance B.V. Director, Bart KOORNHOF. The project concerns the continuation of Kemira group’s current RDI practices and will be carried out within ...

NEW Fast LC columns – image attached, description below: Pursuit UPS 2.4 columns are designed to provide improved performance on standard ‘low dead-volume’ HPLC systems without the need for ultra-high pressures. With approximately 50% lower back pressure than sub-2 micron columns, and near equal efficiencies, Pursuit UPS 2.4 delivers better resolution and increased sensitivity at moderate flows and back pressures. The new columns allow chromatographers to analyze samples faster while achieving higher resolution and reducing the cost per analysis. Pursuit XRs Ultra 2.8 provides enhanced speed for virtually any HPLC instrument, allowing chemists to increase flow rates and use a wide range of mobile phases without going above the maximum operating pressure of the instrument. At the same time, it delivers better resolution (10-15% higher efficiency) than typical 3 micron columns. Users can get high speed performance from conventional LC systems, avoiding the need to invest in new equipment.
