More than 3,500 scientists, professionals, and students presented their latest research and discussed emerging trends in agriculture, energy, climate change, environmental science, and related issues at the 2009 Annual Meetings of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA), Nov. 1-5 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Groundbreaking farming agreement launched to protect countryside
The industry-led voluntary Campaign for the Farmed Environment being launched is a groundbreaking agreement between government, the farming industry and conservation organisations to protect and enhance the nation’s countryside. Speaking at the launch, Environment Secretary Hilary Benn said: “The Campaign for the Farmed Environment is a testament to the determination of farmers, government, and environmental organisations to work together to support and protect wildlife and biodiversity.
