New Zealand government funding boost for contaminated sites
Four contaminated site projects, in Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, Otago, and Tasman and Nelson, will be allocated about NZ$150,000 from the Government’s clean-up fund, Environment Minister Trevor Mallard announced. The allocations are the first from the Ministry for the Environment’s Contaminated Sites Remediation Fund this year. A total of NZ$890,000 of the US$3.28 million annual fund is contestable by regional councils and unitary authorities through two application rounds a year.
