Cleaning up the effects of stormwater with biofilters
Stormwater in urban areas can have negative effects on both the quantity and quality of surface- and ground-waters. Biofiltration systems are a popular form of water treatment, but information on their performance with stormwater is limited to laboratory studies. This research is the first to evaluate three biofiltration systems in practice. Australian government invests AUS$8m in groundwater management
The Rudd Government will provide $8.4 million for six new projects to improve groundwater management across Australia. Minister for Climate Change and Water, Senator Penny Wong, said funding for the six projects comes from the National Water Commission`s $82 million National Groundwater Action Plan.
