Covanta snaps up US waste-to-energy plants in US$450m deal
New Jersey could be about to become famous for a rather different sort of ` waste-management business` than that practiced by Tony Soprano. Covanta Holding Corporation has this week continued its drive to establish the New Jersey-based company as one of the leading players in the booming global waste-to-energy market, announcing that it has completed the first phase of its $450 million cash acquisition of Veolia Environment Services` North American waste-to-energy business. New mattress recycling firm reuses 97 per cent of materials
A mattress recycling firm capable of recycling 97 per cent of the recovered material has begun operating in South London. Matt UK, which is a subsidiary of HTL Recycling and Waste Management Services, extracts the steel springs inside the mattresses and then strips the mattresses separating the material into foam, felt and polyester. The materials are then distributed for recycling. Owner of the HTL Group, Pedro Connolly said: “The ethos behind the firm has always been to look at all waste streams coming in and diverting as much of it from landfill as possible in a cost-effective way.” Currently, ... |
