North American water treatment in power industry to reach US$1.17bn in 2013
The North American market for water treatment systems in the power industry is extremely competitive, with price being a key factor. In particular, the market for wastewater treatment systems gains momentum because of increasingly stringent surface discharge standards and growing concerns over declining fresh water resources. Advanced technologies such as zero liquid discharge (ZLD) and flue gas desulphurization (FGD) blow down treatment devices continue to be mainstays in the wastewater treatment sector.

AUS$1bn plan to help secure cities’ water supplies
The Australian Government will provide AUS$1 billion over six years to help secure water supplies for working families and businesses through desalination, recycling and stormwater harvesting. “The effects of climate change mean most of Australia’s cities and towns have less water, and we can no longer rely on rainfall to supply all our drinking water,” Minister for Climate Change and Water, Senator Penny Wong, said.
