AZUD RW, Recycled Water

AZUD RW plants use two types of disinfection technologies: ozone and ultraviolet.

Ozone (O3): gaseous compound generated by passing a high concentration of oxygen by an electric spark, which conveniently mixed with water, causes the oxidation of any microorganisms.

Ultraviolet: wave radiation generated by a mercury vapor lamp, which can cause cell destruction and inactivation of pathogenic microorganism.

The water recycling system in addition to rainwater harvesting, are to:

1. Reuse of treated water: urban and industrial wastewater, once wastewaters have been treated appropriately, can be reused for a new agricultural, urban, industrial, recreational or environmental use.
2. Reuse of industrial process water: water used in industrial processes, can be treated before discharging to reuse it at the same industrial process.
3. Water reuse for irrigation: water from hydroponic irrigation systems can be reused in fertigation systems, avoid polluting discharges and significantly reducing the cost of water and fertilizers.

• Filtration with disc filters, the most part of the solids from water with higher size to 100 µm are retained in the filtering element before the water moves to the outlet manifold. Cleaning is done automatically with water filtered by the rest of the filters introduces itself to the filterat the opposite direction.

• Ozone disinfection, gaseous compound formed by three oxygen atoms (O3), generated by passing a high concentration of oxygen through an electric spark. Ozone is a powerful oxidant with thischaracteristics:
• Effectively eliminates any pathogens without altering the composition of water.
• Improves smell, color and turbidity of water.
• Decreases the amount of organic matter (BOD and COD) in water.
• Remove large quantities of dangerous substances (detergents, pesticides, etc.)
