COMPOnent - Aerobic Composting

Poor process management leads to odour and poor quality compost. Aerobic conditions within the process can be ensured at any time by the systematic and steady supply of the compost with oxygen. This reduces the time of composting, increases the quality of the end product and avoids odorous compost piles. It works on small and big plants, in open and closed systems, for the treatment of waste, sewage sludge, organic waste, agricultural waste, green waste, etc. More than 40 plants in Europe, proven for decades, constantly advanced – our goal is perfection.

COMPOnent – a sophisticated modular system

COMPOair

COMPOair is the heart of the “COMPOnent family” and ensures the aerobic composting by controlled air supply independent of the cycle turning. COMPOair consists of heavy duty aeration ducts and process aeration blowers, matched to your requirements.

COMPOtemp

Temperature is the most significant parameter of composting. Evidence of sanitisation, digestion process, activity of compost windrows, etc, are provided by the temperature. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor temperature continuously. The COMPOtemp temperature monitoring system provides continuous data of temperature within 3 or 5 zones of depth. The transmission is carried out wirelessly – no more problems with disturbing and faulty cables. The measured temperatures are incorporated automatically into the control of the ventilation cycles (COMPOcontrol). A report of the measured temperature is created by COMPOscan and COMPOwatch. This way the chronological development of the temperature of a windrow can be easily checked and evidence of sanitisation and the progress of the process of composting can be evaluated.

COMPOcontrol

COMPOcontrol is the brain of the COMPOnent aeration system.

The temperatures of are received automatically from the temperature probes (COMPOtemp). The aeration time for every compost windrow is actuated individually and process-oriented.

The touch pannel offers easy handling. COMPOcontrol is directly linked with the visual display software (COMPOscan). Alterations of any parameters are synchronised to both systems. The COMPOcontrol panel is delivered as a prewired unit (PLC, touch panel, motor switches, control cabinet etc).

COMPOscan

For an easy understanding of the composting process, it is necessary to have a clear and comprehensive operational surface. With our experience of visualising many plants in the past, we have made COMPOscan “the easy to understand” visualisation and control software. Sanitisation, thermal fluctuations within the process, etc are easy and clear to control. Entries and modifications of process parameters are possible by simply clicking your mouse. COMPOscan is adapted to the requirements of your plant and is delivered preinstalled on the computer.

COMPOreport

Keeping records are always necessary in our working lives. As far as waste treatment plants are concerned, both government and management are interested in detailed records. The government wants to know “when” the turning was done. The plant operator wants to know “how long” it took the machine to turn and how much labour was required. There are similarities concerning the delivery of the end product, the government and the accounting department want to know “who” has received “what”.

The government requires an annual waste balance and the accountants want to know to whom they should send the invoice. COMPOreport is a central data base which supports the plant operator. It provides data which was once entered into the system for different modules. This data can be used for various interpretations. In addition, data can be automatically transferred to other systems through electronic interfaces and do not need to be manually entered again; e.g. data of delivery from the weighbridge, temperatures from the automatic temperature supervision system, etc. It is also possible to export data from COMPOreport through interfaces to other programs (invoicing and/or accounting programs) or to transmit the annual waste balance through a XML interface to the goverment.

COMPOrain

In the course of the biological process of degradation, water is decreased in the compost windrow. However, to achieve a successful composting a minimum water content is necessary to avoid dry stabilisation. Dependent on the initial humidity of the material, it will be necessary at some point in time to irrigate within the composting process. The irrigation system should be fully automated and not required manual input. COMPOrain helps to pilot irrigation valves individually for every line. This way the required minimum humidity content can be achieved. COMPOrain will control the irrigation time and the amount of water irrigated on each pile. This system is fully automated and documented by the computer.

COMPOtainer

All blowers in a plant are situated in the COMPOtainer linked to a common blower station. COMPOtainer is delivered to the plant completely preinstalled, fans, pipes and exhaust pipe included. It only needs to be connected and the aeration system can start its operation. The time of commencement is shortened and the interfaces between the various parts are significantly reduced. COMPOtainer reduces the noise of the blowers remarkably. Additionally the equipment is protected against the weather, theft etc. If desired it is possible to integrate a separate control room or an office.
