The Crown Disintegration System increases the gas yield from the anaerobic digester by as much as 30%. At the same time, it reduces sludge for disposal by up to 20%, thus drastically lowering disposal costs. The patented process uses cell lysis technology to break down sludge at the cellular level by actually rupturing the cell structure.

The Crown system is a natural for users that already have anaerobic sludge digestion systems and high volume biogas end users. State-funded green energy incentives or other tax incentives may be available to help off-set upgrade costs. In some states, municipalities are able to negotiate better prices with generating utilities by producing energy and feeding it back into the electric power grid.
Municipalities with high sludge hauling costs will also realize major economic savings from using the system. Plus, plants with significant digestion foaming problems will reap major benefits, as the unique disintegration process disrupts filament-building microorganisms.
Municipalities around the globe are significantly reducing their operating costs and improving efficiency by harnessing a byproduct of the anaerobic process. They’re turning to biogas co-generation as an alternative energy resource.
Siemens’ exclusive Crown disintegration system is a key element in that process. It increases the gas yield from the anaerobic digester by as much as 30%, and captures and stores that gas until it’s needed. At the same time, it reduces sludge for disposal by up to 20%, thus drastically lowering disposal costs.
The Crown system with Dystor gas holder is a natural for users that already have anaerobic sludge digestion systems and high volume biogas end users. Government-funded green energy incentives or other tax incentives may be available to help off-set upgrade costs. In some regions, municipalities are able to negotiate better prices with generating utilities by producing energy and feeding it back into the electric power grid.

A rapid payback on capital investment is possible, due to improved operational efficiencies, cost savings, and other benefits provided by the Crown and Dystor systems.
The Crown disintegration system brings a number of valuable efficiencies to the anaerobic digestion process. It reduces solids for disposal while eliminating foaming in digesters, it increases yields of valuable biogas
and improves dewatering.
The patented processuses cell lysis technology to break downsludge at the cellular level. By actually rupturing the cell structure, theCrown®Process canreduce solids by20%after digestion, and itwill increase biogas yieldup to30%.Another important benefit of the enhancement process is its ability to disrupt filamentbuildingmicroorganisms, thus eliminating the problems caused by foaming inthe digesters.
This purelymechanical process treats a 30% influent to the digester, preferably waste activated sludge (WAS) at 3 - 8% dry solids. Each Crown system consists of a high speedmixer, a homogenizer, two progressive cavity pumps, a recirculation tank, the unique disintegration nozzle, and a userfriendly Siemens operator interface and PLC control.
Incoming sludge ismixed, homogenized, pressurized and forced through the disintegration nozzle, causing the cell structure to rupture. This cycle is repeated three times before the sludge is pumped into the digester.Meanwhile, the biogas is released to the Dystor gas holder.
Smaller systems are built and tested in the factory andmounted within an ISO container. Once onsite, they are set, sludge inlet and outlet connections set up and power hooked up to the unit. Larger systems will be built on site.
All units aremonitored 24 hours a day 7 days a week to ensure proper operation for the first year.
