Versatile instrument for spray chilling, inlet air conditioning or working in the closed mode with water/solvent mixtures.
1.) Inlet Air Conditioning
Air humidity changes occuring between different seasons and regions affect the spray drying process. By using the Dehumidifier B-296, the drying conditions are exactly defined and made reproducible by removing the water content with a cold trap at 5°C. The integrated hygrometer displays the air humidity.
2.) Closed loop with aqueous solutions or mixtures
For the use of aqueous solutions or mixtures with less than 50% organic solvents, we recommend the Dehumidifier B-296 instrad of the Inert Loop B-295 due to the risk of freezing causing damage in the Inert Loop. If high drying temperatures are required, an additional heat exchanger is recommended.
3.) Inlet air chiller
When using the spray chilling accessory, the inlet air can be cooled by the B-296 to produce optimal
If oxgen sensitive substances are dryed, the operation is performed under inert conditions, which means under nitrogen instead of air. The decrease the nitrogen consumption, the drying gas is recycled using the Dehumidifier B-296 as cold trap. Due to the cooling temperature of +2°C, there is no danger of freezing.
If mixtures of organic solvents and water (less than 40% solvent) are used, the Dehumidifier B-296 is a suitable alternative compared to the Inert Loop B-295 to condense the solvents and to get inert conditions.
An additional external heat exchanger increases the condensation efficiency and leads to a effective spray drying process.
