Gradko - DIFVOC - Volatile Organic Compound Monitoring
These VOC monitors are designed for passive and active ambient air quality monitoring of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds in the range C2-C28. The tube can be used as a passive monitor for time weighted average concentrations or for pumped sampling (active monitor) for workplace monitoring and comparison to health and safety workplace exposure limits. It is suitable for carrying out spatial or localized assessments of volatile and semi-volatile organics in ambient air analyses, soil analyses, workplace monitoring and personal air sampling, or industrial gas detection. An appropriate sorbent is selected to suit the application required. Concentrations absorbed by the tube are measured by thermal desorption and analysis by Gas Chromatography / FID or Mass Spectroscopy (UKAS Accredited Methods).
Applications

Applications

  • General VOC monitoring – a number of tubes are available, for example

            - General screening of VOCs with reporting of the most abundant compounds or total VOC analysis

            - PAH testing
            - Environmental tobacco smoke
            - Odour measurement – for example from landfill gas emissions or cigarette smoke odour

            - Non-methane hydrocarbon analysers for hydrocarbon gas detection

  • Air pollution monitoring of traffic systems - use this tube as a BTEX monitor, a general VOC detector or monitors for specified compounds. Also total petroleum hydrocarbon analysers may be supplied.
  • Hazardous air pollutants – emissions management of factory outputs ie. paint shops, petrochemical boundaries etc. can be aided with hazardous gas monitoring equipment.
  • Stack monitoring of industrial gases can be used for air dispersion modelling, emissions sampling or general air quality control in the vicinity.
  • Indoor air quality surveys and workplace monitoring are important to prevent occupational exposure to air toxics. VOC analysers can be used as a  personal monitor or for general indoor air monitoring within offices, labs and healthcare businesses.
  • Organic pollution may occur in soils as a result of underground VOC emissions or leaks or soil contamination from previous industry on the site. VOC in soil can be monitored using our soil probe installations.
  • Biological monitoring i.e. Non-invasive measuring of levels of VOCs taken into the body by skin adsorption, ingestion and inhalation. This method provides vital information on the potentially harmful build-up of chemicals in the body after prolonged low-level exposure.
  • Landfill gas emissions may cause odour emission in the vicinity of the landfill site and therefore odour measurement, landfill gas monitoring and analyses of these gases can aid management of the surrounding air quality.

Analysis options

Analysis options

Analysis of VOC monitors can be tailored to the specific requirements of the customer. Options include:
·    Measurement of total volatile organic compounds
·    Speciated VOC analysis – hydrocarbons, petroleum hydrocarbons, environmental tobacco smoke, halogenated VOC, chlorinated VOC
·    Persistant organic pollutants such as PCB analyses
·    Greenhouse gas monitoring such as CFCs
·    PAH analyses
·    Pesticide analyses
·    BTEX analyses or benzene analyses

Soil Probe for VOC contamination monitoring

Soil Probe for VOC contamination monitoring

The SOIL PROBE TM * pinpoints leaks and identifies the plume of underground VOC contamination. The probes are used in conjunction with the VOC thermal desorption diffusion tube for pollution research and are positioned in the soil, in a grid pattern over key areas of a site. This type of emissions sampling provides a quick, low cost indication of pollution “hot spots”. *The VOC-Mole Soil Probe is a registered trademark of Markes International Ltd.
