Metso offers several models of shredders for the cost-effective processing of light to medium-heavy mixed metal scrap, including bales. Our experience gained from the numerous Lindemann shredder plants already supplied has taught us how a shredder must be designed and engineered for long-term economical operation. Low specific energy consumption, high throughput capacities, flexible application, outstanding availability and a cost-saving maintenance and repair concept provide favorable operating costs for the Lindemann shredders. Hydraulic devices ensure that the quality of the shredded scrap, such as particle size and density, can easily be controlled by the touch of a button.
Lindemann kondirator.
The processing of highly contaminated mixed scrap, interspersed with non-ferrous metals, consisting of light to medium-heavy sheet and profile scrap, but containing up to 20% heavy parts, is very difficult. Due to the solid, unshreddable pieces in the scrap, processing on shredder and Zerdirator plants was associated with severe damage to the shredder or downstream conveyor systems.
The Lindemann kondirator has been developed particularly for this type of material.
From the continuously increasing mixed scrap mass it produces a clean, high-grade feedstock for the steel industry. Optimal scrap crushing is achieved by sophisticated systems with interlocking operation, providing the Lindemann metal shredders with their superior performance. Two feeder drive rollers forward the metal scrap into the interior for shredding. The scrap is precompressed and height-optimized by the feeder drive roller positioned on top. This allows the hammers on the rotor to collect and shred the scrap better than ever. The Lindemann ZK kondirator is equipped with a vertically positioned swiveling grid, through which the shredded metal is conveyed.
No matter what type of metal scrap, the metal shredder can handle it.
The Lindemann metal shredder has the latest technology and – thanks to its numerous special features - can easily handle any type of metal scrap. Shape, quantity or condition of scrap does not matter.

Versatile optional equipment.
Appropriate optional equipment is available to comply with official environmental regulations concerning dust, noise and vibration emissions. And in view of special project requirements, we have developed processes that eliminate the need for shredder de-dusting.
High risk from solid parts – NOT on our machines.
Overloads due to the inevitable amount of unshreddable solid parts contained in the feed material are frequently the cause of mechanical breakdowns. Lindemann shredders feature extensive protection to reduce such damages and increase the machine availability. Due to its design, the kondirator also allows recycling of material that is normally processed in shredder and Zerdirator plants. This makes the kondirator a truly universal system.
Hydraulic rotor bearing lock.
The hydraulic rotor bearing lock allows the rotor to make way to a limited extent when solid parts get between rotor and housing bottom. Thus, rotor damage - depending on direction and magnitude of force – can be reduced by this feature.
Hydraulic coarse part ejector.
To allow the unshreddable (long, short or compact) heavy scrap to pass, the anvil moves upward. The heavy parts are “taken along“ in the rotational direction of the rotor and can exit the kondirator through a vertically positioned swiveling grid. The hydraulically operated ejection door for coarse parts allows the discharge of unshreddable solid parts without interruption of the operating process.
Hydraulic anvil lock.
Due to the continuous impact stress of the anvil, the fastening screws tend to become loose. Our hydraulic anvil lock results not only in reduced regular control and retightening of the anvil screws, but also facilitates anvil replacement.
Protection of sensitive parts.
Our special “Long-Life-Caps” protect the hammer axles and rotor disks from wear and increase the centrifugal moment of the rotor so that fewer current peaks occur.
PCS - Plant control at its best.
Our plant control system PCS allows effective process and cost monitoring of your shredder system. Numerous visualized operational data assist plant management in obtaining a quick evaluation of operational effectiveness. PCS shows the recorded reasons for downtimes over a selected period, and provides information on the specific influence of the processed material on wear and energy consumption. In addition, PCS supports simplified planning of maintenance work.
Quick and easy maintenance.
The PLC Telediagnosis via Teleservice, which is also available as an optional extra, offers quick assistance with operational and fault diagnosis. Our service engineer can solve most electronic and software problems from his office. It also results in faster and improved assignment of the right expert and necessary spare part for mechanical problems. Our design features help save time and money by facilitating inspection and maintenance work. With the hydraulic housing lock, the middle and bottom housing sections can be easily and quickly locked and unlocked. The hydraulic rotor lifting device allows easy access to all parts in the bottom housing section. The hydraulic equipment for disassembling simplifies hammer and hammer axle replacement considerably.
