Vertek's newest addition to it's expanding line of fuel fluorescence detection products. The man portable auger system allows quick and easy access to beaches, marshes & other soft soils. It's great for profiling area that you can't not access with larger push systems.
Rapid Site Characterization - Vertek’s Auger Mounted LED Fuel Fluorescence Detector (FFD) measures fluorescence produced by aromatic hydrocarbons when excited by ultraviolet (UV) light. Vertek’s Auger Mounted FFD significantly reduces the time required to detect and characterize hydrocarbon fuels such as diesel, crude oil, and buried tar mats.
FFD Features
- Geo-Tagged depth measurements with 1 mm accuracy
- Determines aromatic hydrocarbon contamination up to 4 feet below the surface.
- Licensed and patented sapphire window technology for long window life and high transmissivity of UV light
- 36V Li-ion battery pack, capable of over 50 soundings per charge
- Dual filtered detectors (see chart below) sense the full range of light to heavy fuel types (aromatic hydrocarbons)
- Android OS based acquisition package.
- LED pulsed at 10 Hz, provides a resolution of 0.2 cm at a push rate of 2 cm per second
- Software package available for 3D cross-sectional hydrocarbon contamination layer profile
