The HS-1 is available with either a 30 meter or a 100 foot tape. The HS-1L is available with tapes in metric units of 50, 75 or 100 meters or 250 foot tapes.
Waterra Pumps Limited has added to its line of oil/water interface sensors with tapes that are now available in lengths from 100 meters to 500 meters — the HS-EL200, HS-EL300 and the HS-EL500. These 3/8' polyethylene coated stainless steel tapes with 5/8' probes are mounted on durable plastic open reels.
The HS line of Oil/Water Interface Sensors makes use of the same plastic reels that are used in the WS Water Level Sensors. These tough reels protect the stainless steel tape from damage and dirt while the tape is stored on the reel. They are made from black polyethylene and their lightweight and slim profile make them very portable.
The polyethylene coated 3/8' stainless steel flat tape is available in both metric and imperial graduations. (Metric tapes are graduated to the nearest millimetre; imperial tapes are graduated to the nearest 1/100 of a foot.) The tape is manufactured with a probe connector at one end and a circuit board connector at the other. This allows the tape or the probe to be quickly and easily replaced should either become damaged. The HS-1 is available with either a 30 meter or a 100 foot tape. The HS-1L is available with tapes in metric units of 50, 75 or 100 meters or 250 foot tapes.
The faceplate of the HS Interface Sensor contains the membrane ON/OFF switch and an automatic power saving feature that will turn the unit off after three minutes. The faceplate also contains the display that illuminates one of two LEDs to indicate the presence of either water or hydrocarbon.
The back plate contains both the buzzer and the battery pack. The loudest buzzer available was chosen for our interface sensors to ensure that the units could be heard in noisy environments. Removing the back plate gives the user access to the battery pack. Both the HS-1 and the HS-1L are powered by 4 AA cells.
The sensor's probe is 5/8' diameter and is constructed from 316 stainless steel. The probe is snapped into the side of the reel in a probe holder when not in use. This probe contains the ultrasonic transducer that is used to detect the presence of hydrocarbons and the conductivity sensor that detects water.
