The Omnivore is a proprietary solution for municipal wastewater treatment plants used to increase the capacity and efficiency of existing conventional municipal sewage sludge digesters. Omnivore can be implemented to convert aerobic digesters into higher rate anaerobic digesters or be implemented into existing anaerobic digester to increase their capacity, increase efficiency and allow for co-digestion of external high-strength waste to increase energy production. Omnivore is also a competitive solution for new digester construction in municipal wastewater treatment plants.
Omnivore augments digesters through the installation of high solids mixers, mixer service boxes and recuperative thickening using a proprietary sludge thickening system. Recuperative thickening more than doubles the capacity of a conventional digester by increasing the solids retention time removing water and retaining solids with the thickener. Omnivore digesters operate at 6% solids compared to the typical 2% to 3% solids. The higher solids, more viscous digester content is efficiently mixed using Anaergia high-solids mixers.
