Construction And Advantages

Compact design

Achieved by integrating the transmission with the blower. The impeller is mounted directly on the shaft driven by a single-speed gear transmission.

High operating efficiency

A wide operating range is ensured by a special impeller design optimised to the operating requirements, a high-efficiency transmission and a control system.

Stepless capacity control

Between 100% and 45% (40%) at a constant rotational speed of the impeller. The expensive inverter for rotational speed control is not needed. During operation, the capacity is controlled automatically by suitable turning of inlet guide vanes on the inlet and/or the vaned diffuser on the outlet, once the required operating specifications, both direct (e.g. blower capacity) and indirect (e.g. the quantity of oxygen in aeration tanks in sewage-treatment plants), are set.

Low noise level

85 dB(A) with insulated pipelines. Unlike in displacement machines, there is no noise-increasing air pulsation in the pipelines. If the blowers are installed in a separate unattended building, soundabsorbing casings are not required, and the noise level is low enough for the operating staff to carry out the necessary maintenance operations according to PN-94/N-01307.

High performance reliability

Achieved thanks to high standards of workmanship and minimized number of rotating parts.

Easy installation

All subassemblies, including the control cabinet, are mounted on a common frame which does not require heavy foundations.

Output air purity

Output air (or any other gas medium) is free of dust and oil carry-over.

Easy operation

The control system helps to reduce the probability of accidental operator errors to the minimum and uses a series of sensors to detect and quickly respond to anomalies (by indication or emergency stop). The flexible control system can be programmed according to customer requirements. The microprocessor-based programmable logic controller features an integrated process variable monitoring and display functionality.

Control System

The CC blowers are provided with microprocessor-based control systems. For example, if there are four blowers installed in one plant, three blowers are equipped with SLAVE control systems designed to provide the following functionalities:

Protect the blower against:

  • low oil pressure below a permissible level;
  • high oil temperature above a permissible level;
  • impeller shaft bearings overheating above a permissible level;;
  • excessive relative vibrations of the impeller shaft;
  • exceeding the maximum pressure for the specific position of controls;
  • low oil level below a permissible value

Control the blower's operation:

  • prepare the blower for operation (keep the blower ready for a quick start);
  • start and stop the blower, either upon the command from the MASTER system or locally by using the START/STOP buttons on the SLAVE control cabinet panel;
  • alter the capacity, either upon the command from the MASTER system or locally by using the buttons on the SLAVE control cabinet panel;
  • control the bleed valve on the pressure pipeline.

Monitor the following variables:

  • oil pressure downstream of the slide bearings;
  • oil temperature upstream of the bearings;
  • impeller shaft bearings temperature;
  • impeller shaft relative vibrations;
  • control valve positions;
  • compressed air pressure;
  • active electric load.

The fourth blower is provided with the MASTER control system which provides the normal SLAVE functionality for the blower it is installed on, and additionally manages the operation of the other three blowers by:

  • controlling the capacity of the blower plant;
  • controlling air distribution to each active sedimentation chamber via the distribution dampers on the pressure pipeline;
  • balancing the power consumption;
  • balancing the volume of air being forced through;
  • protecting against starting all blowers simultaneously;
  • displaying alarm messages and warning messages;
  • performing other functions programmed on customer request.

The MASTER/SLAVE controllers are interconnected via a local bus. The MASTER controller can be interfaced to the main plant control system e.g. to the control system of a sewage treatment plant.
