Sludge Dewatering

Sludge dewatering, as the name implies, is to dewater sludge or the process of dewatering sludge, removing the water (dewater) as much as possible from sludge.

The sludge is typically leftover from the liquids solids separation step in industrial and municipal wastewater treatment operations although can sometimes be followed by or replaced by sludge drying.

Usually waste water treatment sludge is dewatered either by air drying or with sludge dewatering equipment or both, sludge drying logically following sludge dewatering.

This overall dewatering and/or sludge drying process results in dewatered sludge cake to be disposed of, reused or recycled in some manner.

Some typical sludge types are:

  • Industrial Sludge
  • Municipal Sludge
  • Activated Sludge
  • Sewage Sludge
