Dr. Bertrand W. Dussert is a water and wastewater treatment expert with over twenty years of experience. He has extensive expertise in water treatment technologies including ultraviolet disinfection (UV), ozone, chlorine dioxide, chlorine, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), and physical processes such as activated carbon and membrane separation.

Prior to becoming a consultant to the water treatment industry, Bertrand was Global Product Manager of UV technologies at Siemens Water Technologies (Vineland, NJ, USA). In this role, he led, developed and implemented product & business strategies worldwide for ultraviolet (UV) technologies used for the municipal, industrial, commercial and residential markets.

Prior to his position with Siemens Water Technologies, Bertrand worked at Calgon Carbon Corporation (Pittsburgh, PA, USA) during which he held various management positions ranging from R&D to Marketing and Commercial Development (Mergers & Acquisitions). During his tenure, he directed the project that led to the discovery that UV is readily effective for the inactivation of Cryptosporidium oocysts and Giardia cysts.

Bertrand has a vast experience working for suppliers/ manufacturers of water treatment technologies. He has hands on experience developing strategies for cutting-edge products and the penetration of new markets.

Bertrand has a M.S. in Chemistry from Université Claude Bernard, Lyon 1 (France), and completed his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquees de Toulouse (France). His Ph.D. research, focusing on the oxidation of refractory aromatic compounds, was carried out at the Research Center of Suez Environment (Le Pecq, France)
