Growing up in the so called "Green Heart of Germany" -Thuringia- reverance for nature and a sensitivity for the environment and the necessity to protect it have always been part of my life. So has my interest for intercultural co-operation on environmental issues and their global impact - an issue, which can only be addressed most successfully in an intercultural work group, with colleagues from different cultures, different educational backgrounds and with a wide range of views and experience.
I have been aware of our nature from my earliest childhood and always wanted to contribute with my skills, knowledge and work to its protection, which made me become an Environmental Engineer. Although good intentions and high ideals are admirable, an effective environmental protection or sustainability program can only be achieved with the proper education, to promote such ideas and ideals, while being aware of the need for economic efficiency, which makes environmental protection attractive to companies and corporations, but also private home owners. Since I am convinced, environmental issues are global issues I decided to improve my English, before starting an engineering career and studied English and American Linguistics for 3 years at the university.
After graduating as an engineer, I spent 6 months volunteering for an ecology and environmental protection organization as a seminar teacher for school kids, teaching about sustainability and renewable energies. Since June 2009 I have been employed at a small research institute for underground engineering, pipeline construction and renewable energies. Where I am responsible for (among other things) preparing and conducting tests and experiments on pipeline samples- since October I have been in charge of our test laboratory, but also researching scientific topics and working out grant proposals, and papers or presentations.
